- Shehbaz Sharif to be elected as permanent president in party's general council on March 6

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) central working committee on Monday named Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif as an interim president of the party.
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who had been disqualified as party president by the Supreme Court earlier this month, suggested the name of his younger brother as successor.
PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Maryam Nawaz, Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Governor Rafiq Rajwan, Tallal Chaudhry, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and other leaders of the party unanimously expressed confidence over the decision of the Nawaz Sharif.
A meeting of the party’s general council will be held on March 6 when Shehbaz Sharif would be appointed as permanent president of the PML-N.
Shehbaz Sharif on his election tweeted as “Humbled by the confidence my leader Nawaz Sharif & CWC reposed in me. Vow to work day in and day out to come up to the expectation of the party leadership & workers. The journey of progress will continue unabated IA”.
